About the role

Responsibilities
- Visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Understand and adhere to the POS system, handling various tenders like Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notifying store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Qualifications
- Customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
