About the role
Cashiers receive payment in the form of cash, credit card, Meal Plan, Campus Cash, FAST, or Flex transactions for goods purchased, make correct change when required and assists customers with various questions typically related to the payment, account balance, or item(s) purchased.
Essential Functions
- Balances cash drawer by counting cash at beginning and end of work shift
- Operates cash register and bar code scanning equipment accurately and efficiently while receiving payment by cash, credit cards, Meal Plan, Campus Cash, FAST, or Flex accounts
- Communicates any register needs to R/C management in relation to products, error correction, control and/or pricing concerns
- Greets customers entering the restaurants and cafes
- Maintains correct cash balance at registers
- Maintains safe and clean/sanitary check out area and working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Answers customers' questions, and provides information to guests as necessary
- Assists with resolving customer complaints
- Is aware of and communicates to customers about all promotions and special events
- Must interact with student employees in a positive manner
- May assist with food production
- May wash pots and pans, run dish machine and perform cleaning and sanitation duties
- May assist with dining room clean-up, and put chairs up and take chairs down
- May assist with replenishment of condiments and paper products
- May assist with refuse removal
- Is expected to do any reasonable requests asked of them
- Other duties may be assigned to reach individual and organizational goals

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Extensive computer use
Pay
Rate of pay $17.05 per hour.
