Job Summary
Increases customer confidence and loyalty by providing accurate, fast, and courteous customer checkout services. Manages lanes according to service standards and ensures financial responsibility.
Essential Responsibilities
Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated to increase customer confidence and loyalty.
Listens to and appropriately escalates customer concerns to management with a positive attitude.
Stocks front end products; restocks and uses supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and maintain the lowest supply cost.
Manages lane according to service standards.
Affords assistance in training new cashiers.
Responsibilities
Uses the Point of Sale (POS) system, and handles various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, Reward offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy to record sales.
Understands and adheres to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and works honestly and effectively to control loss adheres to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, etc.).
Assists customers in unloading purchases onto the conveyor belt at the checkout.
Packs customer purchases in a manner to prevent damages, carry or push groceries in a shopping cart to the customer’s car and load groceries into the vehicle.
Checks the price of merchandise in all departments, as needed.
Collects shopping carts from parking lot and other areas and returns to designated area.
Qualifications
Required Education: High School / GED Diploma
Preferred Education: Course of Study Preferred
Language(s): English
Relevant Experience: Supervisory Experience 0 - 3 yrs minimum
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Customer Service skills, Effective communication skills, Ability to handle stressful situations, Basic computer skills required to participate in online training, Compliance with all company policies and procedures, High standard of integrity and reliability, Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same, Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
Environmental Factors
Physical Demands: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk on various types of flooring, utilize manual dexterity, talk, see, hear, smell and perform repetitive movements with both hands and/or both feet.
Working Conditions: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee may be exposed to working in indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid working conditions.
Safety Risk Factors: The employee is frequently required to twist back and/or neck, walk on a slippery or cluttered floor surface, work with hazardous equipment and be exposed to sharp objects.
Overall Required Equipment: cleaning supplies and equipment, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, various material handling equipment, such as racks, carts, pallet jacks, shopping carts
Preferred Equipment: baler/compactor, box cutter
