Cashier Associate
Job Summary
Increases customer confidence and loyalty by providing accurate, fast, and courteous customer checkout services. Manages lane operations, ensures customer satisfaction, and maintains financial responsibility.
Essential Responsibilities
Creates a welcoming environment to enhance customer confidence and loyalty.
Escalates customer concerns to management with a positive attitude.
Stocks front-end products, restocks supplies, and manages lane operations according to service standards.
Assists in training new cashiers.
Scanning and Handling Payments
Uses POS system and handles various tender types (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, Reward offers, coupons).
Adheres to company policy on cash shortages, overages, restricted sale items, and loss prevention.
Checkout Operations
Assists customers with unloading purchases, packing items, checking prices, and loading groceries into vehicles.
Collects shopping carts and returns them to designated areas.
Store Standards and Compliance
Maintains safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity standards.
Ensures adherence to regulatory compliance requirements (Food Safety, USDA, COOL, DOA).
Executes product recalls and withdrawals.
Reports and addresses safety risks, incidents, and illegal activities.
Supervisory and Safety Duties
Cultivates a culture of safety within the store.
Ensures adherence to wage and hour policies.
Ensures equipment is in good repair and reports/remedies safety hazards.
Inspects and identifies unsafe conditions and reports them to management.
Ensures Hazardous Assessments are posted and personal protective equipment is available and used.
Other Duties
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School/GED Diploma preferred.
Customer service skills, effective communication, stress management, basic computer skills.
Knowledge of company policies and procedures, high integrity, reliable authorization to work in the US, successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
