About the role
The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco seeks a Cash Handler in its Los Angeles Cash Office location. This role supports 24/7 operations in distributing US currency and coin to financial institutions in the southern California and Nevada regions, as well as those in Asia and Mexico.
Responsibilities
- Receive, process, and distribute US currency and coin in a highly regulated environment.
- Operate complex processing equipment and troubleshoot machine issues to support production goals and contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain quality control policies and work procedures.
- Balance, reconcile, and settle currency and coin holdings on a daily basis.
- Identify, assess, and collaborate on resolving problems of varying complexity, such as machine issues, inventory management, customer transactions, and accounting and settlement activity.
- Contribute ideas for best practices and operational enhancements to management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Competence in basic math and accounting skills.
- Data entry and computer operating experience, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong teamwork and customer service orientation.
- Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication and diplomacy skills when interacting with staff, management, customers, and third-party vendors.
- Technical aptitude to learn and operate systems, computer-based applications, equipment, and tools used in the daily operating environment.

- Manual dexterity in preparing and operating machinery.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Pay
$54,000 - $64,000 annually (Location: Los Angeles)
Schedule
Flexible schedule to accommodate 24/7 operations, including a 10% shift differential. Must be flexible to work additional hours as needed to meet business needs.
