Cash Handler (Day Shift) - San Francisco

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, San Francisco branch, seeks a dynamic and versatile individual to join the Cash Handler team in a high-volume, production-oriented environment. This position involves assisting in the receipt, processing, and distribution of US currency and coin to financial institutions on behalf of the Federal Reserve Bank.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, and distribute US currency and coin in a highly regulated environment with strong attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures.
• Operate complex processing equipment and troubleshoot machine issues accurately to support production goals, service levels, and contractual obligations.
• Work collaboratively with team members in a dynamic production environment to maintain quality control policies and work procedures.
• Complete customer transactions and inventory management through balancing, reconciling, and settlement of currency and coin holdings on a daily basis.
• Identify, assess, and collaborate with leadership to resolve problems of varying degrees of complexity within the operation, including machine issues, inventory management, customer transactions, and accounting and settlement activity.
• Contribute ideas for best practices and operational enhancements to management that improve production, operational quality, or drive employee engagement and growth.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated competence in basic math and accounting skills.
• Data entry and computer operating experience, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong teamwork and customer service orientation.
• Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication and diplomacy skills when interacting with staff, management, customers, and third-party vendors.
• Technical aptitude to learn and operate systems, computer-based applications, equipment, and tools utilized in the daily operating environment.
• Manual dexterity in preparing and operating machinery.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Desired Experience + Traits

• Experience in banking is not required, but experience in military, manufacturing, automotive, biotech, electronics, energy, machinery, defense/aerospace, medical, cosmetics, production, or distribution environments is desired.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including the primary assignment of Day Shift (6:30AM to 3:30PM or 7:00AM to 4:00PM) and the secondary assignment of a 4/10 Schedule (4:00PM to 3:00AM or 4:30PM to 3:30AM).

Pay

Base Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 (Location: San Francisco)

Schedule

Monday-Friday, with flexibility to work varying shifts.
