CASH/ADJ PROCESSING SPECIALIST

About the role

The Cash/Adjustment Processing Specialist at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is responsible for the daily review and posting of insurance remittances, managing contractual adjustments, and distributing payments to the appropriate entities.

Responsibilities

  • Applies payments received electronically or hard copy daily to the appropriate patient accounts.
  • Processes or transfers credits to the appropriate Children Memorial Hospital entities.
  • Reconciles Blue Cross Experience Reports and prepares journal entries with appropriate documentation to the Accounting Department.
  • Corrects any erroneously posted system-generated or manual contractual adjustments and posts appropriate adjustments not previously posted.
  • Determines the next steps in pursuing remaining balances and provides necessary data to the person responsible for follow-up.
  • Verifies and applies credit card transactions to reconcile monthly account statements.
  • Reconciles bank statements daily and processes all patient or third party checks returned as unpayable due to insufficient funds.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or three years related experience and/or training.
  • Solid knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to enter or key high volumes of data rapidly and accurately.
  • Analytical skills to identify incorrect errors.
  • Experience with electronic remittance advice software.
  • Epic experience.
  • Knowledge of physician billing work flow, third party payer procedures, governmental regulations, and managed care contracting.
  • Excellent customer service skills, professional, self-confident, dependable, and a team player.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Two or three years related experience and/or training.
  • Skills: Solid knowledge of Excel, ability to enter or key high volumes of data rapidly and accurately, analytical skills, experience with electronic remittance advice software, Epic experience, knowledge of physician billing work flow, third party payer procedures, governmental regulations, and managed care contracting, excellent customer service skills.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $27.75 hourly, with a comprehensive rewards package including various voluntary benefits and a 5% employer match on the 403(b) plan.
