Caseworker - SCL
About the role
LSI’s Services for People with Disabilities team is searching for dedicated, compassionate hourly part-time Caseworkers in the Dubuque area. The Iowans we serve are seeking a life of greater confidence and independence, and it’s our privilege to empower them toward success every day.
An hourly Supported Community Living (SCL) Caseworker works with children and adults with intellectual disabilities or chronic mental illness, providing support, assistance, and instruction in learning independent living skills such as:
- Money management
- Socialization
- Cooking
- Personal hygiene
Caseworkers encourage individuals to be involved in their community, develop outcome-based Individualized Service Plans, and set personal goals. This is a flexible, community-based position with no weekends, working primarily with adults and after-school hours with children. You will set your own schedule to fit clients’ needs.
This role may lead to a full-time position once a caseload is built. Must have computer skills and a valid driver’s license, as you will transport clients into the community.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and instruction in independent living skills
- Develop Individualized Service Plans reflective of personal goals
- Encourage community involvement for individuals served
- Work flexible hours based on clients’ needs (no weekends)
- Transport clients in the community using your own vehicle
Requirements
Qualified candidates will meet ONE of the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in human services, education, or a related field (one year of related experience preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in a non-human services field and one year of human services experience
- Associate’s Degree (AA) with two years of human services experience
- High school diploma/GED with four years of human services experience
Must have basic computer skills, a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a good driving record. Must pass an extensive background check, including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry, and criminal history.

Schedule
Part-time hours available in the following ranges:
- 10–23 hours per week
- 24–29 hours per week
- 30+ hours per week
Flexible scheduling with no weekends. Primarily after-school hours with children and daytime hours with adults.
