About the Role

The PRS Caseworker (Level I) is responsible for conducting well-being and follow-up contact with children and their sponsors. The PRS Caseworker must have experience working with children and youth, be familiar with trauma-informed care, and child welfare practices. The PRS Caseworker provides support to children and sponsors, assesses needs, and refers for additional services based on the family’s requirements. This role requires knowledge of local social services, community outreach, and experience working with diverse populations.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience working with children and youth, case management, or child welfare services
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, or another social service field (preferred)
• Proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases
• Proficiency in Spanish and ability to communicate effectively with children, sponsors, and staff
• Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Word/Excel)
• Valid state driver’s license and eligibility to drive to facilitate program services
• Ability to obtain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification and First Aid/CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned caseload of post-release services
• Comply with US and ORR policies, procedures, and mandated timeframes
• Collaborate with care providers to verify and assess sponsorship needs
• Evaluate the sponsor’s ability to provide appropriate care and a safe living environment
• Assess, identify, verify, and recommend additional support or resources for the child’s needs
• Maintain telephone contact and conduct virtual and in-person home visits with children and sponsors
• Collaborate with PRS Case Manager II and III to assess cases and determine level adjustments based on needs
• Provide ongoing caseworker services through assessments, planning, evaluation, and psychoeducation
• Maintain appropriate documentation and safeguard confidential records
• Identify and report concerns related to life-changing events or significant incidents to the program and ORR
• Act as a mandated reporter for abuse, neglect, or exploitation
• Participate in training, meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
• Travel to conduct in-person visits in surrounding locations (some evenings/weekends may be required)
• Attend all required training, departmental, and program meetings
• Perform related duties as assigned or revised to meet program needs

Schedule

Five days per week, 40 hours per week (some evenings and weekends may be required to meet timelines and reporting standards).
