About the Role
The Case Manager Supervisor plays a key role in guiding, supporting, and developing assigned caseworkers while ensuring compliance with agency policies and timely delivery of client services.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage caseloads, including reviewing intake packets assigned to case managers.
- Actively participate in improving processes, procedures, and policies to ensure case manager compliance.
- Review intakes to ensure timely processing of all required forms and compliance with documentation standards.
- Ensure the client’s initial social service assessment is completed within 48 hours of arrival.
- Oversee case managers in gathering medical, psychological, and social assessments, and evaluating residents' capabilities.
- Regularly inspect case records to assess the completeness and quality of independent living plans.
- Review and ensure appropriate referrals are generated for residents related to substance use, mental health, or medical incidents.
- Participate in resident case conferences and follow up on incident reports as directed.
- Educate personnel on clinical services, recreational activities, AAPCI programs, and community resources.
- Support caseworkers with professional development and additional resources for client services.
- Complete supervisory review notes, initial assessments, biopsychosocial assessments, and independent living plans (ILPs) as required.
- Carry a caseload as directed and perform other related duties as requested.
Supervision and Personnel Management
- Ensure caseworkers comply with the agency’s time and attendance policy; recommend disciplinary action when necessary.
- Assist the Social Services Director in staff performance management, including performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct staff supervision in accordance with program and division policies.
- Ensure caseworkers attend required in-service training and schedule vendor-provided training.
Professional Development
- Meet regularly with the Director of Social Services and/or Program Director to improve department goals.
- Attend all training issued by DHS and AAPCI to enhance service delivery.
- Participate in and assist with facilitating social service meetings as directed.
- Complete other development training as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Education, Counseling, Substance Use, Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Coaching, or Leadership).
- At least 1–2 years of full-time experience in a case management-related position.
- Experience supervising a team of 2–6 members.
- Experience with the NYC Department of Homeless Services and DHS CARES system is preferred.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with a focus on client services.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, residents, and external partners.
- Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 5 pounds at times.
- Ability to access and navigate all departments within the organization’s facilities.
- Strong understanding of the NYC homeless shelter system.
Pay
The base salary compensation range for this role is $74,560.88.
