About the Role

Revolution Workshop is a social enterprise providing carpentry and woodworking workforce development for unemployed or underemployed individuals in partnership with local businesses. We aim to deliver financial independence and careers through skills, hope, and resilience. We are seeking an individual to assist participants through their construction pre-apprenticeship experience, including case management, coaching, goal planning, and barrier removal.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain individual case management and supportive services for program participants, including updating case notes on attendance, career interests, job applications, and employment barriers.
  • Lead support services (internal and external) for participants, such as transportation assistance, childcare, financial issues, and housing.
  • Prepare program documents, including handbooks, grant documents, and applications.
  • Teach life skills and financial literacy classes covering conflict resolution, communication, workplace professionalism, and email etiquette.
  • Build authentic relationships with trainees through shared lived experiences and Revolution Workshop’s coaching approach.
  • Hold trainees accountable for attendance, communication, teamwork, and industry pace.
  • Collect grant-required data and documentation, including eligibility, attendance, supply sign-outs, and individualized training plans.
  • Assist in screening and selecting program participants through candidate interviews.
  • Lead weekly meetings to update program staff on trainee progress and concerns.
  • Collect trainee feedback to improve program outcomes and experiences.
  • Assist with planning and developing Revolution Workshop programs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree encouraged but not required.
  • At least one year of experience working with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge and experience working with underserved individuals using resiliency, strength-based coaching, and trauma-informed care approaches.
  • Understanding of social service resources available to underserved individuals in Chicago and surrounding areas.
  • Excellent computer skills: Google G Suite, Microsoft Office, Excel, and ability to learn new systems and databases.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Takes initiative and anticipates program needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to emerging priorities with schedule flexibility.
  • Valid driver’s license for transporting trainees to support services.

Schedule

Tuesday to Thursday: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Friday and Saturday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Evenings and weekends are required; schedule will be flexed accordingly.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a typical office environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate.
