About the role

Cayuga Centers is hiring immediately for a Case Manager position. The position is located in Baltimore, Maryland and offers a starting salary of $64,500 annually.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct home studies to assess the safety and suitability of homes for children referred through shelters or foster care providers.
  • Provide post-release services to assess the needs of children and sponsors, and connect them with resources.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children on the caseload by monitoring placements on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage a high turnover caseload of approximately 40 youth at any given time (both Home Study and Post Release Services cases).
  • Coordinate initial intake for each youth, including conducting safety screenings and mental health assessments.
  • Communicate regularly with the youth and sponsor to address any needs or concerns.
  • Ensure all assessments, reports, and team case notes are current in both hardcopy and electronic files.
  • Enroll and assist children in attending school.
  • Respond to client emergencies within or outside of work hours.
  • Travel throughout the region, and potentially outside of the assigned region, to complete home studies and in-person case contacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant behavioral/social science field.
  • Experience conducting home studies according to state requirements.
  • Strong professional writing skills, particularly for assessment reports.
  • Knowledge of local community social services.
  • Experience working with immigrant populations.
  • One to three years of progressive experience in case management.
  • Child welfare experience.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people from many cultures, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children.
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred.
  • Valid driver's license in a state located within the assigned region and personal, reliable vehicle to conduct home visits.
  • Ability to travel extensively, both via ground and air.
  • Reliable vehicle required to travel to clients' locations up to 3 hours away.

Physical Requirements

  • Computer work requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Time driving and/or taking public transportation to conduct client and family services.

Schedule

The position is exempt and regular hours entail Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, business hours. Must be flexible to meet program needs and available to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
