Tuesday through Saturday with hours varying from 12:30 pm–9:00 pm and 1:30 pm–10:00 pm.

About the role

The Case Manager GWGL implements strategies to achieve the goals for the organization and employment support and training for Goodwill Workforce Development program participants and trainees. This role sustains policies, procedures, and programs, typically working on projects and tasks that span 3–12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Assess program participants for job readiness, education and training needs, and support needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized development plans by establishing appropriate goals and objectives for program participants.
  • Provide on-the-job training of new employees as part of the training team.
  • Offer job-related guidance and support in career exploration, social and emotional skill awareness, professional appearance, appropriate workplace behavior, and attendance.
  • Facilitate referrals to other services (social services, mental health, housing, medical, child care, financial, etc.) as needed.
  • Audit employee attendance against Goodwill’s attendance policy.
  • Analyze progress toward goal achievement for assigned program participants using attendance reports, phone calls, and individual meetings.
  • Participate in corrective action meetings with galley management.
  • Write regular case notes to record information needed for annual Ability One Individual Employee Evaluations.
  • Accurately review and document program plans on a regular basis and complete other necessary records for all assigned program participants.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge to address confidential matters daily.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with individuals, referral sources, families, and Goodwill staff.
  • Interact daily with galley management, human resources, scheduling, transportation, interpreting, intake, uniforms, base access, and process review teams to address participant needs.
  • Apply working knowledge of community resources and assist participants in contacting them as needed.
  • Work with human resources on FMLA, policy issues, benefits, etc.
  • Organize meetings with internal staff to promote communication and consistency.
  • Plan and manage own work to reliably complete routine job responsibilities and special assignments; may serve as a team member or subject matter expert on formal projects.
  • Engage in change affecting the role, communicating appropriately with supervisors and following through on learning and skill-building.
  • Solve problems of moderate to advanced complexity; identify root causes, interpret data, and resolve issues with light supervision.
  • Understand and apply professional principles and skills within the area of specialization to modify processes and resolve situations.
  • Champion Goodwill’s community engagement initiatives and serve as an ambassador in the wider community.
  • Complete other projects, initiatives, duties, or responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of college education or experience equivalency, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Educational background in vocational rehabilitation (social work, counseling, psychology, special education, or similar course of study) to support individual eligibility evaluations and develop appropriate individual development plans.
  • Prior experience working with persons with disabilities and disadvantages preferred.
  • Knowledge of job training methods, techniques, and principles preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word) and ability to learn and effectively use various Workforce Development Information systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or American Sign Language) preferred.

Physical/Sensory Demands

  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 20 pounds.
  • Moves about to accomplish tasks.
  • Subject to weather conditions (hot, humid, dry, cold, etc.).
  • Subject to human blood, body fluids, or tissue.
  • Repetitive use of hands and feet as needed for job employment support activities.
  • Vision required for computer keyboard use, working with written and electronic information, and travel.

Pay

When determining placement within the salary range for this position, Goodwill Greater Milwaukee & Chicago considers education, experience, internal equity, market demands, and other qualifying criteria. It is not typical for individuals to be hired at or near the top of the range, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. Certain roles are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, though participation does not guarantee payment and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.
