Responsibilities
- Coach collaboratively – maintaining a balance between teaching and serving
- Visit each youth/family on a routine and 'pop in' schedule
- Aid youth/families in achieving their goals
- Provide education and support to youth/families
- Provide transportation to youth/families
- Attend court with clients and render recommendations
- Communicate with schools and multiple institutions related to youth/family matters
- Respond to all crisis calls and manage those situations
- Create plans, including goals, for each youth/family
- Update plans and goals
- Develop relationships with agencies in the community
- Work with other social welfare agencies
- Conduct intake and needs assessments
- Determine 'crisis' situations
- Visit each youth/family to gather necessary information to complete the assessment
- Follow Firefly Children & Family Alliance professional standards
- Report to the Department of Child Services / Probation office
- Maintain case and agency paperwork according to standards
- Prepare written reports for the Department of Child Services / Probation office within identified timeframes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work or related field is required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- A valid driver's license and insurance with no more than 6 points on driving record
- Knowledgeable regarding social service systems within the state
- Adherence to current confidentiality practices
- Appreciation for and ability to respond to cultural differences
- Development of relevant networks of contacts
