About the role
The Sheltering Case Manager position at MID-WILLAMETTE VALLEY COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY supports and guides moderate to high needs clients through extended assistance to remove barriers and facilitate stable housing. Key responsibilities include eligibility screening, program enrollment, participant follow-ups, data entry, and general program supports.
Responsibilities
- Works directly with clients to ensure access to housing assessments and resources.
- Affirms client eligibility and gathers necessary documentation for intake, enrollment, and shelter placement.
- Provides direct service to participants, including case management and housing placement support.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with community partners.
- Supports client tracking, service delivery, follow-up reporting, and maintains strict confidentiality.
- Maintains compliance with all relevant federal, state, and grant program requirements.
- Complies with agency quarterly and annual reports.
- Adheres to MWVCAA safety and personnel policies, including punctuality and attendance.
- Performs cleaning, janitorial, and laundry tasks in support of sheltering operations.
Requirements
- Two years of related social service experience, direct client care; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ideal candidates should have an advanced degree with two or more years of homeless service delivery experience and mental health certifications and/or licensing.
- Basic Life Support/First Aid Certification is required within 30 days of hire.
- Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain within 30 days.
- Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of/or experience with principles of coordinated assessment, working with unsheltered or vulnerable populations, and best practices in homeless service delivery.
- Basic proficiencies in computers, MS Office products, database software, and web tools.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications and databases.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
