About the role

The Housing Works Inc. Alternatives to Incarceration (ATI) Program is a collaboration between Housing Works and the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) to provide court mandated, risk-need-responsivity services to jail-bound individuals 18 years of age and older who are involved in Manhattan criminal and supreme court systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supportive case management to Housing Works ATI Program clients while engaged in program services
  • Refers and connects clients to wraparound services needed such as healthcare, vocational training, continuing education, etc.
  • Aids clients with obtaining IDs and vital documents and benefits enrollment
  • Engages in care coordination activities with clients and the interdisciplinary care team
  • Supports clients with adherence and compliance with court mandates
  • Conducts client outreach weekly, including but not limited to phone calls, text alerts, appointment reminders, letters and home visits
  • Maintains essential data for reporting and program evaluation in eICare, including program enrollment, progress notes, care plans, referral activity, and updating contact information
  • Facilitates evidence-based groups
  • Participates in weekly supervisions sessions with the Clinical Coordinator
  • Participates in monthly all-staff program meetings and bi-weekly team meetings
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary OASAS and Reentry teams
  • Provides culturally competent services in accordance to Housing Works policies and practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience working in human services with individuals involved in the criminal legal system with mental health, substance use or behavioral health needs
  • Skilled in delivery of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral techniques and risk-need-responsivity interventions
  • Preferably bi-lingual in Spanish
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent or proficient technical skills to perform tasks related to Microsoft Office, email and case management systems
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the team
  • Dependability and reliability to arrive and depart timely for scheduled shift
  • Cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed approach to care
  • Comfortable working within the courts or secured DOC assigned areas
  • Prior experience working in the field of criminal justice, pre-trial to post-release services
  • Ability to lift 25-35lbs
