About Communities Connected For Kids

Communities Connected for Kids provides oversight and coordination of the child-welfare system in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties. At any given time, we care for about 1,300 abused, abandoned, or neglected children, ensuring their safety and well-being through a mix of direct and contracted services. We serve as the general contractor of the child-welfare system, coordinating a network of service providers to support children, adolescents, young adults, and families.

Our services include in-home parenting and prevention, family preservation, case management, residential programs, and extended foster-care services for teenagers and young adults. We partner with agencies funded through Medicaid, substance abuse/mental health, or private funds to offer a continuum of treatment services.

Responsibilities

• Support Dependency Case Managers with assigned tasks
• Transport clients to and from court appointments, medical appointments, counseling, placements, and other required locations (may include long-distance travel and overnight stays)
• Coordinate and supervise family visitations between case managers, foster parents, parents, children, and caregivers (majority of the role)
• Supervise children during visitations and other interactions
• Document all contacts, observations, interactions, and behaviors of children, parents, and caregivers in the electronic case file
• Assist Dependency Case Managers in providing case management services, including information, referrals, and linkages
• Obtain records and documents needed for service delivery (e.g., education records, medical/dental records, vital statistics)
• Testify in court hearings regarding observations and documentation
• Manage time effectively and attend staff meetings
• Be available to work after hours and/or on weekends as needed
• Participate in accreditation and re-accreditation processes
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• 1+ years of related experience required (preferably working with children); 2+ years preferred
• Previous experience in a social service organization preferred
• Prior experience installing children's car seats, including knowledge of types, requirements, and expiration dates
• Valid Driver's License in good standing
• Class B CDL License with passenger endorsement is a plus
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Background screening required in accordance with Florida Statute 435.12
