Case Coordinator

CASES is currently seeking a Case Coordinator for our Harlem Pretrial Services team. This role supports participants in the Supervised Release Program (SRP) by ensuring compliance with supervision conditions, court appearances, and service plans during their legal case's pendency.

About the role

This position is based in our Harlem Community Office with fieldwork in the larger NYC community as needed to assist participants. The role operates in a hybrid work environment with at least one full day remote per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and community-based services to a caseload of pretrial participants.
• Conduct Supervision Introduction/Orientation meetings with new participants within 24-48 hours of release to review supervision conditions, reporting schedules, and mandatory communication methods (face-to-face, telephone, and texts).
• Work collaboratively with the court and other pretrial staff to ensure participants’ successful completion of mandated supervision appointments and court appearances.
• Review legal and court screening documentation to analyze participants’ offending behavior patterns and identify behavioral changes or supports to reduce pretrial arrests.
• Conduct ongoing service need assessments to examine psychosocial needs, including the severity of mental and substance use disorders, and barriers to participation in supervision and treatment.
• Link participants to treatment based on eligibility, preferences, and needs, and provide escort to community services.
• Ensure timely community outreach and case management activities to meet program goals and objectives.
• Utilize problem-solving techniques and motivational interviewing to engage participants in the process of change.
• Provide services in a gender-responsive, trauma-informed manner, adhering to the core principles of risk-need-responsivity.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with community providers, including housing, health, addiction treatment, mental health, vocational training, legal, medical, and family services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience, or an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of three years' experience working in human services with individuals with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and involvement in the criminal justice system.
• Extensive knowledge of community treatment, support services, and resources.
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system, court processes, and alternatives to detention/incarceration services.
• Ability to sit for extended periods.

Preferred Skills

• Fluency in Spanish.
• Experience using databases such as Salesforce.

Pay

$61,193 per year.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (35 hours per week excluding breaks).

Location: 4 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027. Easily accessible by public transportation.
