Job Overview
The Evaluation Office of UNICEF is seeking a Case-based Causal Methods Lead Consultant to design and implement the Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) component of an evaluation focused on child protection systems strengthening for prevention of and response to violence against children and women.
About the Role
UNICEF seeks a consultant to lead the design and implementation of the QCA component of the evaluation. This position requires a deep understanding of QCA methodologies and a proven track record in applying these techniques in international development and complex research settings.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of the QCA component of the evaluation
- Provide methodological leadership on the design, implementation, reporting, and dissemination of results for the application of QCA
- Generate cross-nationally comparable and quality evidence on the outcome level results of the UNICEF CPSS strategy to prevent and respond to violence
- Integrate and align QCA findings with other evaluation components
- Identify good practices and actionable lessons to inform refinement, adaptation, and scale-up of UNICEF’s CPSS approach
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (minimum Master's) in Political Science / Comparative Politics, Statistics / Applied Social Research, Public Policy / Evaluation, or Social Sciences with quantitative methods specialization
- Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience designing and applying QCA in international development or complex designs for research or evaluations
- Experience working with the UN system or international organizations
- Track record of leading multi-country comparative studies
- Fluency in English (written and spoken), with working knowledge of French or Spanish an asset
- Advanced data management and analysis skills
- Strong report-writing and communication skills
- Team player mentality and desire to collaborate in a multicultural and diverse work setting, as well as works independently
Qualifications
- Experience integrating AI/ML tools in evaluation or research
- Experience working in low- and middle-income country contexts
