About the role

The Case Aide position at MercyFirst is located at the Syosset, NY campus under the supervision of a Casework Supervisor. MercyFirst is a not-for-profit agency founded in 1894, providing services to children and families in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Long Island.

Program background

Children and teenagers are admitted to MercyFirst's specialized programs based on Family Court recommendations. Services include community-based prevention and family foster care, group homes, and short-term residential services for unaccompanied migrant children. MercyFirst aims to support these children and families through innovative treatments and interventions, helping them overcome significant challenges and achieve their full potential.

Summary of position

The Case Aide is expected to embrace diversity and work with families in a supportive manner. Key responsibilities include conducting home visits, documenting contacts, and maintaining accurate records. Effective communication and organizational skills are crucial.

Required qualifications

  • A high school diploma and related work experience in the social work field.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of office and/or casework experience.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, including the ability to manage conflicting communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct home visits with birth parents, foster parents, and/or resource persons.
  • Document all contacts in appropriate computer systems within established time limits.
  • Maintain and document each home visit, family/sibling visits.
  • Answer and direct phone calls appropriately.
  • Respond to client requests for information.
  • Maintain timely data entry into multiple computer systems.
  • Maintain tracking systems of reports coming due and completed.
  • Communicate effectively with lawyers, doctors, school personnel, and others involved in the family's life.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Follow all MercyFirst's established policies and procedures.
  • Understand and commit to the Agency’s Mission, core values, Sanctuary commitments, and DEIB principles.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $44,000-$47,000, with a hiring incentive of $1,000 after 500 worked hours.
