Responsibilities

Carpenters are required to perform a variety of tasks including erecting and setting forms for vertical and horizontal concrete structures and site work, per specifications and drawings. Essential job functions include:

  • Perform Journeyman level Carpentry work
  • Read and interpret measuring tools such as tape measure, speed square, framing square, etc.
  • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and other written instructions and diagrams
  • Set and place forms to proper elevations and location, prepare the base and install proper reinforcing
  • Experience in setting and erecting forms using a wide variety of materials and forming systems for vertical and horizontal concrete forming
  • Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials, shape materials to prescribed measurements and assemble, fasten with nails, dowel pins or glue
  • Verify accuracy of structures with plumb bob and carpenter’s level
  • Able to perform general Carpentry tasks, such as build and install barricades, decks, shelves, and any other miscellaneous site needs and duties
  • Know how to form and finish walls, footers, grade beams, etc.
  • Able to lay out and properly build and place embeds, anchor bolts, etc.
  • Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete
  • Be able to assist in placing/tying rebar
  • Be able to assist in placing and finishing concrete
  • Disassemble, remove, and clean form materials
  • Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
  • Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision
  • Must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman
  • Must have basic knowledge of the construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction
  • Support project with other tasks as directed by supervision
  • A Master Journeyman must be able to direct a small crew and/or mentor Journeyman and Helpers

Qualifications

Education and work experience requirements include 4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. NCCER Certification/License is preferred. Minimum 4 years of experience in Journeyman level role.

Skills

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include being knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations. Must be able to set a personal example of safe behavior, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, and add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Physical Demands

Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions. May need to maintain physical strength and stamina, use arms, hands, and legs fully, push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks. Stamina to perform this task repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals.

Schedule

This position is a Full-Time position scheduled to work typically 50 hours per week. Schedule is subject to projects requirements.

Travel

Travel required up to 90%. Position requires presence directly on the Project Site location with intermittent travel to residence of record.

Pay

Financial wellbeing compensation is $32.00 / hour, commensurate with experience. Competitive pay with ongoing performance review and merit increase, 401(k) with company match & Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and flexible spending account (Healthcare & Dependent care).
