Job Overview

Job Responsibilities

  • Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.
  • Build and dismantle concrete forms, shoring, and scaffolding according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, fiberglass, drywall, and other materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
  • Work with other craftspeople such as concrete finishers, ironworkers, and laborers to ensure project completion.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Carpenter in heavy civil construction, road construction preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites in the Houston, TX area.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.

Primoris Heavy Civil provides highway, port, airfield, rail and marine (intermodal transportation) construction services to private commercial and industrial clients as well as governmental entities such as the Department of Transportation and the US Army Corps of Engineers. Heavy Civil is comprised of six operating units that include North Louisiana Operations, South Louisiana Operations, Texas Operations, HMA Paving Operations, Concrete Paving Operations, and the Infrastructure Rehabilitation Unit.
