About the role
Tesla is looking for a Carpenter to join our industrial construction team on a large-scale refinery. This role demands exceptional craftsmanship in a fast-paced, high-stakes industrial environment. Responsibilities
- Ability to produce parts lists and work plans based on drawings or field observations
- Capability to create as-built drawings for completed work
- Experience with concrete formwork, shoring, bracing, and temporary structures typical of refinery and heavy industrial construction preferred
- Flexibility to complete job scopes outside of typical core competencies as required on a multi-craft industrial site
- Ability to lead small construction work packages and communicate schedule estimates, progress, and impacts to supervision
- Experience operating scissor lifts, boom lifts, and forklifts; valid certifications preferred
- Familiarity with industrial site protocols, including permit-to-work, LOTO awareness, and working around live or near-live process areas preferred
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of verifiable experience as a Journeyman Carpenter in industrial, heavy civil, or refinery/process plant construction (applicants with less than 5 years will be assessed for experience level and considered)
- Read and interpret structural, architectural, and process-related drawings and specifications; contribute to creating accurate as-built drawings
- Form, frame, and install temporary and permanent structures supporting refinery construction, including formwork, scaffolding interfaces, platforms, and access structures
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of job site safety, with the ability to evaluate job hazards and complete pre-work task planning, with emphasis on hazard identification in active industrial and multi-craft environments
- Ability to work at heights in elevated, congested, or restricted industrial spaces
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills; interact effectively with supervision, craft leads, and multi-discipline crews; show initiative and work independently or collaboratively as needed
- Extensive experience with hand and power tools common to industrial carpentry and formwork
