The Carpenter position is part of the Activations and Operations Team within the Maintenance and Operations Section - Facilities Management.
About the Role
This role involves general carpentry tasks such as cabinet installations and repairs, laminate installations and repairs, and drywall installation and finishing.
Responsibilities
- Design, fabrication, and installation of cabinets, shelves, benches, displays, frames, etc.
- Sets door frames, hangs doors, cuts door openings in masonry walls, installs locks and panic hardware, lays floor tile, replaces/installs ceiling tile, mounts and adjusts door closers.
- Hangs and finishes drywall, constructs walls, repairs damaged walls containing holes, cracks, broken gypsum board, constructs and repairs plaster and drywall ceilings, repairs floors, expansion joints, furniture, etc.
- Responsible for the cleaning and proper care of all tools and equipment used for safe work practices at all times to prevent injury to personnel or damage to government property.
- Skilled in the use of tools and equipment such as skill saws, cut-off and rip saws, drills, spray guns, planers, joiner, shaper, drill press, and belt sander.
- Requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up equipment weighing up to 10 pounds; occasionally handles materials weighing 40 pounds or more.
- Member of the travel team, performs work at satellite locations throughout Middle Tennessee.
- Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
- Physical requirements: Lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying objects of varying weights, sizes, and shapes; exposure to heat, restricted ventilation, poor illumination, dust, grease, noise, vibration, gases, and fumes in various work environments, including outdoor weather conditions.
