About the role
ASRC Federal is seeking a Carpenter for our ISS2 contract supporting the Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island, with a 3-month on-site rotation and 1-month off unpaid leave. Housing and meals are provided by the government.
Responsibilities
- Works both inside and outside of buildings and structures to perform all types of rough and finish carpentry.
- Constructs, repairs, modifies, and maintains housing, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- Maintains, repairs, and replaces doors, woodwork, paneling, drywall, floor covering, and broken windows.
- Installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults.
- Examines locking mechanisms and installs new units or disassembles units and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
- Opens door locks by moving lock picks in cylinders, or opens safe locks by listening to lock sounds or by drilling.
- Uses key cutting machine to make new or duplicate keys, ensuring all keys are kept in a key control logbook.
- Maintains keying systems for buildings.
- Measures, lays out, or machine cuts wood, tile, plastics, and other materials.
- Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
- Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
- Uses blueprints, drawings, models, and/or verbal instructions to plan and lay out work.
- Aids other trades and craft personnel in their daily operations.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years journeyman level carpentry experience.
- Current Locksmith Certification or ability to obtain one.
- Valid state drivers' license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
- Must pass a background check, drug screening, fingerprints, and a fit-for-duty physical exam; candidates must be medically cleared for long-term residency in a remote location with limited access to healthcare.
