About the role

Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm with offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, primarily serving the private sector. We combine the experience and resources of a national company with the hands-on approach of a local company.

Carpenters construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, metal, and wallboard using hand tools and power tools. Carpenters work with and install doors, hardware, trim, cabinetry, ceiling materials, and millwork.

Responsibilities

• Build rough wooden structures such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters according to sketches, blueprints, or verbal instructions.
• Examine specifications to determine dimensions of structures and measure boards, timbers, or plywood using various tools.
• Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes and brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts.
• Build framework to strengthen, protect, or disguise buildings undergoing construction.
• Erect scaffolding for buildings and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways.
• Install rough frames and brace them with boards nailed to framework.
• Install subflooring in buildings.
• Weld parts to steel structural members.
