Full-time, hourly/non-exempt position in the Riggs division, reporting to the Labor Foreman or Project Manager.
About the role
Carpenters design, build, install, and repair structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using materials such as wood, steel, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall. This role requires precision, physical strength, and the ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform work efficiently, safely, and accurately to meet production goals set by the Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Manager.
- Prepare project layouts and estimate dimensions (height, width, length).
- Read and interpret blueprints or supervisor instructions.
- Select appropriate materials (wood, plastic, fiberglass, drywall) for each task.
- Use hand and power tools (chisels, planes, saws, drills, sanders) to construct, install, and repair structures.
- Join materials using nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
- Work at various heights using ladders, scaffolding, stilts, or building beams.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with code and project specifications.
- Install cabinetry, molding, partitions, doors, and windows.
- Create structural supports for concrete work, including building forms and tunnel bracing.
- Replace building components such as glass panes, ceiling tiles, and doors.
- Move and install machinery as required.
- Erect scaffolding and temporary structures.
- Follow all company safety and personnel policies.
- Travel to assigned job sites.
- Perform physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting overhead, and walking in rough terrain.
- Work flexible hours to meet project and company goals.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on carpentry experience.
- Ability to lift and carry loads up to 100 pounds.
- Comfortable climbing and working from ladders or scaffolding.
- Capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
