Duties and responsibilities (day to day)
- Provide 1-1 support
- Be patient and understanding
- Play and interact
- Support with communication and interaction skills
- Support to regulate mood
- Provide emotional and behavioral support
- Close supervision always required, need to keep him safe
- Must hold hand when not in wheelchair due no awareness of danger
- Always use his wheelchair in the community due to a tendency to run off and become overwhelmed, often displaying "flight or freeze" responses
- Provide support to access the social activities and sensory experiences he enjoys
- Helping identify new interests and suitable sensory-friendly activities
- Providing personal care: feeding, toileting, and safety, while maintaining dignity and comfort
Skills Required
- Friendly, caring, and empathetic
- Hardworking and committed
- Experience With Children With Additional Needs (desirable)
- Experience of working in a caring role formal or informal (desirable)
- Ability to build up good relationships
- Reliable, punctual, and understanding
- Good at problem solving challenges
- Driving licence and access to own vehicle (desirable but not essential)
Qualifications
An enhanced DBS check will be required before employment commences; this cost will be met by the employer.
Pay and Schedule
- £12.75 per hour
- 6 hours per week
- 8 hours per week during school holidays (Days and Times to be mutually agreed with employer)
