About the Role

The Caregiver position involves working with aging and disabled adults in a recreational therapy environment. This role is key to supporting clients through daily activities and fostering a positive, engaging atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain consistent interaction with all clients by creating and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Assist in serving and clearing two meals and one snack per day.
  • Fill in as a driver to transport clients to/from the facility and outings in a company van (CDL not required).
  • Clean and sanitize activity areas between groups of clients.
  • Work with the CTRS to lead calendared activities that assist clients with their daily goals, including setup and cleanup.
  • Assist with intergenerational activities as needed.
  • Support clients with Activities of Daily Living, such as walking, toileting, assisting clients on/off company vans, and moving between activities.
  • Maintain compliance with ADS Policies and Procedures and the Neighborhood House Employee Manual.
  • Attend monthly in-person in-service training.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Be dependable and punctual, adhering to the attendance policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA laws.
  • Ensure client safety and promote engagement.
  • Track and chart on assigned clients.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified.
  • Food Handlers Permit.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid Utah driver’s license; ability to be trained to drive a company van (up to 14 passengers).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.
  • Obtain an initial health exam.
  • Communicate effectively in English (proficiency in Spanish or another language is a plus).
  • Pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Full vaccination for COVID-19.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with adult day programs is preferred, along with an understanding of the needs and challenges of aging and/or disabled adults and their families.
  • A demonstrated desire to care for people, including the referenced population, is optimal.
  • Solutions-oriented with the ability to problem-solve collaboratively and independently, with minimal direction.
  • CNA, TRT, or other professional licensures are a plus but not required.

Pay

Salary range: $16–$18 per hour, depending on experience and licensure.

Schedule

Full-time hours, with schedules determined by the Day Services Manager.
