Caregiver HHA/PCA

About the Role

We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Caregivers to provide one-on-one personal care in clients’ homes, helping them remain safe and independent. We specifically seek caregivers who speak fluent Spanish, Korean, Tagalog, Mandarin, or Cantonese. You will work at client locations, matching your expertise to the seniors you care for. Our culturally diverse clients speak Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, Yiddish, and English.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care activities including:
  • Baths (sponge, tub, shower, and bed bath)
  • Oral hygiene
  • Basic skin care and foot care
  • Grooming of hair (shampoo and combing), shaving, and ordinary care of nails
  • Toileting
  • Catheter and ostomy care (empty only)
  • Transferring (bed to chair, wheelchair, and shower, etc.)
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Changing diaper/brief
  • Ambulation
  • Medication assistance/reminder
• Assist with home exercise plan
• Perform household tasks necessary to the client’s health care needs, including:
  • Planning and preparing nutritious meals
  • Assisting in feeding client, as appropriate
  • Light housekeeping of client’s environment, including linens and making bed
  • Laundering client’s clothing and bedding
  • Assisting clients with shopping
• Use equipment and supplies safely
• Engage with client in conversation, hobbies, activities, board games, and other appropriate activities
• Monitor, observe, and encourage range of motion exercises and other procedures as instructed by professional staff
• Maintain a written log with receipts of all client money used to purchase goods or materials for the client’s care
• Report any changes in client’s condition to the Supervisor
• Document care provided consistent with agency requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or educational equivalent
• At least one year of experience working in home health care
• Active HHA License (must meet NY state requirements for Personal Caregiving services)
• Safe and reliable transportation to travel to and from client locations; vehicle must be available during assignments to assist clients with shopping if required
• Submit or undergo a full annual physical with MMR (Measles/Mumps/Rubella) and PPD/TB test (less than a year old)

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid and current state driver’s license and insurance
• Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Physical Demands

• Able to lift, move, and assist clients (notify the office if you cannot safely lift the client)
• Ability to safely assist client in and out of a vehicle and lift a wheelchair or walker weighing up to 50lbs
• Able to communicate accurately with others
• Able to operate office equipment such as a computer and phone
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
• Able to perform tasks such as lifting, light housekeeping, walking, and driving

Pay

$20.00–$20.59 per hour, plus a $100 referral bonus for hired HHAs/Caregivers or clients brought on board.

Schedule

Full-time, part-time, and live-in positions available. Flexible scheduling with various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
