About the role
We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Certified Caregivers (HHA/PCA) to provide one-on-one personal care and support to clients in their homes. Our caregivers help clients remain safe and independent while delivering culturally sensitive care to diverse populations, including Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, Yiddish and English speaking clients.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care activities including:
- Baths (sponge, tub, shower and bed bath)
- Oral hygiene and basic skin/foot care
- Grooming (hair, shaving, nails)
- Toileting and catheter/ostomy care (empty only)
- Transferring (bed to chair, wheelchair, shower, etc.)
- Dressing/undressing and changing diapers/briefs
- Ambulation and medication assistance/reminders
- Assisting with home exercise plans
- Perform household tasks necessary to the client’s health care needs, including:
- Planning and preparing nutritious meals and assisting with feeding
- Light housekeeping, linen changes, and making beds
- Laundering client’s clothing and bedding
- Assisting clients with shopping
- Use equipment and supplies safely
- Engage clients in conversation, hobbies, activities, and games
- Monitor, observe, and encourage range-of-motion exercises and other procedures as instructed
- Maintain a written log with receipts for all client funds used to purchase goods or materials
- Report any changes in client’s condition to the Supervisor
- Document care provided consistent with agency requirements
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of experience working in home health care
- Hold an active HHA License meeting NY state requirements
- Safe and reliable transportation with a vehicle available during assignments
- Ability to work autonomously and make appropriate decisions
- Fluent in Spanish, Korean, Tagalog, Mandarin, or Cantonese
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid and current state driver’s license and insurance
- Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Demands
- Able to lift, move, and assist clients safely
- Ability to safely assist client in and out of a vehicle and lift mobility aids up to 50 lbs
- Ability to communicate clearly and operate office equipment
- Capable of performing tasks such as lifting, light housekeeping, walking, and driving in a constant state of alertness
