Caregiver - Direct Support Professional

Responsibilities

• Assure the health, safety, and well-being of all clients
• Administer positive behavioral redirection and encourage self-coping mechanisms
• Assist with daily living activities as needed based on care plans
• Assist with food preparation and cleaning as needed
• Maintain positive relationships with clients, guardians, and staff
• Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with supervisor or case manager
• Provide patients with help moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles and with dressing and grooming
• Bathe patients
• Care for patients by changing bed linens, washing and ironing laundry, cleaning, or assisting with their personal care
• Entertain, converse with, or read aloud to patients to keep them mentally healthy and alert
• Administer prescribed oral medications, under the written direction of physician or as directed by home care nurse or aide, and ensure patients take their medicine

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• Compassion for client care and wellbeing
• Ability to prioritize multiple duties and responsibilities
• Consent to background check
• Driver's license with 3 years of clean driving record preferred, not required
