Visiting Angels of Northwest Arkansas is seeking caring, compassionate individuals to join our team as Caregivers in the Lowell area. We serve clients throughout Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville, Bella Vista, and surrounding communities.
About the role
A Caregiver is an essential part of our team, providing a range of services from light housekeeping and transportation to companionship and personal care. We invest in your growth with continuing education opportunities, including specialized training in dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
Responsibilities
- Understand, perform, and adhere to the client Home Plan of Care.
- Assist with personal care activities: bathing, skin care, hair care, nail care, dressing, feeding, oral hygiene, shaving, grooming, and bedtime preparation.
- Assist clients with bathroom use, including urinals or bedpans, and maintain cleanliness for incontinent clients.
- Support clients with self-administration of medications.
- Assist with personal communication skills as needed.
- Provide transportation in accordance with the plan of care.
- Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal preparation.
- Handle client laundry and bed linens.
- Maintain records of client progress, report changes in condition to supervisor.
- Report all incidents/accidents involving clients or employees immediately.
- Assist with exercise, ambulation, and transfer activities, using proper body mechanics.
- Conduct safety precautions: clean spills, eliminate hazards, and report unsafe conditions (e.g., frayed cords, unsecured handrails, malfunctioning detectors).
- Engage in respectful, empathetic social interaction while respecting client privacy and property.
- Maintain a positive attitude, confidentiality, and prompt responsiveness to client requests.
- Communicate effectively with team members and maintain proper handwashing techniques.
- Participate in required in-service training programs.
- Seek assistance from supervisors as needed and demonstrate dependability in following instructions.
- Ensure regular, consistent attendance to serve clients.
- Accept and fulfill assignments, exercising judgment as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Demonstrate a sympathetic and positive attitude while caring for others.
- Previous experience in private duty home care preferred.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations daily.
- Strong listening and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm, and maintain a sense of humor.
- Present a well-groomed, professional image.
- Commitment to client service excellence and generating goodwill for the Agency.
- Current TB testing.
- Authorization to work lawfully in the U.S.
Physical/Environmental Demands
- Combination of sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, climbing stairs, and moving during working hours.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to see and hear (or use prosthetics enabling these senses) to meet job requirements.
- Maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, leadership, clients, family members, and vendors.
- Compliance with licensing, certification, background testing, drug/alcohol testing, OIG checks, and health assessments as required by law or employer policy.
- All demands are subject to ADA requirements.
Schedule
- Part-time positions available.
- 8-hour, 10-hour, 12-hour, and short shifts offered.
Pay
$13.00–$16.00 per hour.
