Join a unique opportunity in rural Alaska with the Alaska Commercial Company (ACC). We are hiring for two full-time, permanent positions—Store Manager-in-Training and Front-End Manager-in-Training—designed to be filled together by two people who know each other (e.g., a couple, close friends, or family members). About the Role
This is a training position that leads to a Store Manager role upon completion. You’ll play a vital role in our stores and the communities they serve, with responsibilities spanning customer service, operations, and team leadership. Training may occur in any of our locations, with relocation to another site based on operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Share knowledge, experience, and best practices to foster team spirit across departments
- Achieve sales goals by adapting to community needs
- Order retail products as needed
- Operate cash lanes and manage transactions
- Create eye-catching displays and execute planograms
- Serve customers and community residents with exceptional service
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume grocery/retail environment
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with high attention to detail
- Proven organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities
- Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and superior customer service
- Ability and desire to develop an in-depth understanding of ACC’s customers
- Commitment to ACC’s vision, mission, values, and strategies
- Willingness to work in extreme conditions in remote Alaska
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. regularly and stand for long periods daily
- Must be able to work extended hours and handle/reach with hands and arms
- Must be willing to relocate to rural Alaska (relocation paid by ACC)

Housing Guidelines
Company-provided housing is for employees and their immediate family (spouse/partner and dependent children). Most units have a four-person occupancy limit; exceptions require approval. Pets are discouraged due to remote conditions but may be permitted on a case-by-case basis (limit of two pets per unit; service animals allowed per law).
