What you will be doing:

  • Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in career preparation training
  • Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, employability skills, independent living skills and other areas relating to job search through information technology
  • Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes; update materials with current job market, employability and life skills information to supplement curriculum
  • Effectively manage training areas including student behavior and timely record keeping and reporting
  • Develop employability activities and exercises
  • Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance reports
  • Control use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs; recommend purchases
  • Prepare and orient students for Job Corps program; define expectations and goals; direct and support student progression through program; counsel students
  • Participate in student panel to transition to CDP
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalency
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Computer proficiency

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
