About the Role
This position involves assisting participants in developing and executing personalized Individual Career Plans that align with their goals and foster self-sufficiency. The Career Navigator will provide mentorship, assess employability, identify barriers or assets, and maintain regular communication with service providers to track participant progress. The role requires strong coaching and mentoring skills, creativity, leadership, and excellent oral and written communication abilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist participants in developing and implementing individualized career plans to encourage self-sufficiency and personal growth.
- Conduct assessments to determine immediate and long-term needs, employability, and barriers or assets affecting participants' success.
- Explain participant rights, responsibilities, required actions, and available services based on their ability to succeed.
- Collect and evaluate participant information to determine eligibility for internal and external program services.
- Ensure accurate collection and review of all necessary documentation to support participant requests for assistance.
- Maintain case documentation, including case notes, supportive services provided, and updates to participant records (physical and electronic).
- Collaborate with participants to create an Individualized Career Plan (ICP), set goals, and outline actionable steps for career development.
- Regularly review and adjust career plans to align with evolving participant needs and goals.
- Conduct case management tasks, such as assisting with job searches, providing referrals, preparing success stories, and attending meetings or training sessions.
- Travel as needed to support participants with specific case management needs or site visits.
- Generate and pull reports related to participant progress, case management activities, and program outcomes.
- Monitor participant progress through regular check-ins, phone calls, site visits, and case management appointments.
- Act as a liaison between participants and program partners to ensure access to supportive services and resources.
- Collaborate with court systems and local, state, federal, and social services agencies to coordinate program services and ensure compliance.
- Stay updated on job-related rules, statutes, and laws through professional development activities.
- Keep the Workforce Manager informed of any unusual or crisis situations and provide guidance for proper handling.
Requirements
- Minimum of a BA or BS degree or one year of experience in criminal justice, social work, employment counseling, placement, human services, or public administration.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and social media applications.
- Must provide own transportation and maintain a valid operator's license, current vehicle registration, liability insurance, and vehicle inspection.
- Must be able to clear an OMV check and be ambulatory.

- Flexibility to work occasional long hours, including weekends, to meet program needs.
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress work environment.
- Strict confidentiality of all participants and program-related information.

- Ability to tolerate frequent periods of high stress, heavy workload, and multiple priorities.
- Must be able to see, hear, speak, and otherwise communicate effectively.
