About the role
We are seeking an energetic and talented individual to join our team at the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center. As a counselor, you will provide support and guidance to students in various aspects of their lives.
Responsibilities
- Deliver counseling services to assigned residential and non-residential students in personal and social development, career development, and behavior.
- Conduct career technical/academic, social and personal career development counseling sessions to individuals and groups for assigned students.
- Aid students in seeking advanced training opportunities, such as technical training or college admission.
- Maintain and document communications with parents, guardians, and Admissions Counselors regarding student issues.
- Establish and maintain relationships with instructors and residential advisors to facilitate positive interactions with students.
- Represent students at review panels and meet with the Student Personnel Officer for consultations on individual and group problems.
- Develop referrals and provide follow-up information on student progress reports and disciplinary hearings.
- Participate in committees to review policies and procedures related to the counseling program and center operations.
- Administer leaves and passes in CIS to comply with Department of Labor (DOL) policies.
- Facilitate, monitor, and conduct Evaluations of Student Progress (ESP).
- Transport students to and from bus stations and other scheduled appointments as needed.
- Work towards meeting performance management goals.
- Follow CDSS/CSS/BMS plans and procedures daily.
- Conduct and document Unaccompanied Youth (UA) follow-ups according to PRH requirements.
- Maintain updated monthly CIS case notes in required format on assigned students.
- Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices.
- Comply with all DOL guidelines, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and center policies and procedures.
- Model, mentor, and monitor appropriate career success standards to help students become more employable.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year experience in counseling or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree, including at least 15 semester hours of instruction in social services-related instruction.
- Valid State Driver’s License.
