The Career and Employer Relations Specialist in our Career Development Center provides individual and group career counseling to assist students with the development of career goals and the alignment of those goals with associated academic programs.
Responsibilities
- Serves as liaison to an academic school, collaborating with Student Support Advisors to support the career development of students through class presentations and programming.
- Develops and manages relationships with local industry and agencies to facilitate postings for career and internship opportunities.
- Utilizes Career Services Management software as conduit for communication between industry partners and students.
- Collaborates with faculty liaisons and academic administrators on the development of applied learning experiences.
- Provides group programming and workshops to classes and other groups to support student career development, including interviewing, resume development, professionalism, and job search skills.
- Connects students with applied learning opportunities such as job shadowing and informational interviews to further enhance student understanding of specific careers.
- Provides individual and group career counseling to assist students with the development of career goals and the alignment of those goals with associated academic curriculum.
- Advises students on current developments and trends in the job market, as well as career opportunities.
- Collaborates with college offices to coordinate a Student Employment Program that facilitates the development of career competencies.
- Performs other duties as related to the job description and as assigned by the Director of Holistic Student Support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three (3) years’ experience in a student development related field
- Experience with diverse populations
- Effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, computer literacy
- Critical thinking abilities
- Ability to travel locally and work occasional evenings
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in relevant field
- Experience in career planning in a college setting
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm. Some occasional evenings and weekend availability may be required. 35 hours per week.
Pay
$55,362
Additional Information
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
