About the Department
The Adult Pulmonary Stepdown Unit is an exciting, dynamic, and team-oriented environment. We care for adult patients aged 18 to 100+ treated for:
- Post-lung transplant procedures after transfer from the CVICU
- Post-lung transplant complications
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Post-endoscopic lung volume reduction procedures
- Interstitial lung disease exacerbations
- Patients listed for lung transplant requiring hospital admission
- ECMO graduates
Our patient population requires a multifaceted approach due to the complexity of their conditions.
Schedule
Full-Time Night Shift: 6:45 pm - 7:15 am (three 12-hour shifts per week). Shifts rotate throughout the week. Note: Set schedules are not available; schedules are determined by unit clinical staffing needs. All employees (including night shift and PRN) must attend hospital orientation during regular daytime hours during the first week of employment.
Requirements
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience), and one of the following:
- Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical), or
- Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required), or
- Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician.

- One year of previous experience in a hospital setting

Responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Assist with day-to-day delivery of patient care.
- Facilitate efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
- Serve as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
- Support unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards.
Additional duties may be assigned.
