Job Summary

Aids providers and nurse navigators in coordinating referrals and scheduling appointments for patients in the Lung Programs. Ensures patient care coordination and understands insurance coverage.

Essential Functions

  • Completes referrals for patients and coordinates with referring and receiving practices and/or departments.
  • Confirms patient eligibility for lung cancer screening through tobacco intake, completes screening orders, and schedules screenings.
  • Covers financial estimates for patients, obtains insurance authorizations as needed, directs patients to providers in their insurance plan, reviews benefits, and educates patients on insurance coverage.
  • Schedules and confirms procedures, diagnostic tests, or other services within various departments with internal and ancillary providers.
  • Reviews, schedules, and confirms schedules are accurate and time is properly allocated.
  • Follows up on all referrals to ensure no care gaps.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • RMA or CMA preferred due to specific responsibilities for lung programs.

Computer Experience

Required.

Knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of Insurance coverage (FSC/Coverage/Plan types) and Medical Necessity policies preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical records software preferred.

Customer Service Experience

Required.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

Office setting.

Pay Range: $20.80 - $31.20

Schedule Details/Additional Information: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
