About the role
The Care Associate is responsible for a broad range of support services to ensure efficient patient operations including assisting professional staff in direct patient care, admitting, registering, scheduling patient visits, obtaining authorizations, triaging patient and family inquiries, preparing billing data, maintaining patient information, preparing required reports, and providing other support as requested.
Responsibilities
- Answers telephone calls promptly and courteously, and routes or forwards as necessary. Ensures phones are forwarded or covered at all times.
- Schedules patients in EMR system, Outlook calendar, and completes all necessary forms and processes.
- Performs clerical duties of moderate scope and complexity, including receiving and conveying information, scanning documents, preparing summaries, sorting and matching documents, filing records, collecting and distributing patient records, and working with doctor offices and patients.
- Completes patient referrals to ensure a complete record is available for Medical Director/Staff sign-off for scheduling sleep studies, including patient orders, insurance and authorization information, and progress notes.
- Reviews records, files, and other documents to obtain information and respond to requests. Maintains a comprehensive working knowledge of the records information system and supports all daily records functions including filing, retrieval, and auditing.
- Greets all walk-in customers, patients, and families utilizing effective customer service skills.
- Performs data entry with high quality and productivity.
- Performs other duties as needed based on the future plans or structure of the sleep center and management.
Requirements
- A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is required.
- California Certified Medical Assistant is preferred.
- 2+ years of nursing support experience in a hospital and/or medical environment is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
- Ability to handle a high volume of phone calls and scheduling of patients for the Sleep Center.
Pay
$23.00/hr - $31.57/hr. Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.

Schedule
Full-time, days (8-hour shifts).
