About the role

This position provides routine patient care under the direction of the RN. The primary responsibilities include assisting with state mandated screenings, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining a clean and organized clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Assists RN and LPN with vision, BMI, and oral health screenings in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensures accuracy of documentation and reviews health records.
  • Enters screening data and interventions in the student cumulative health record.
  • Documents screening and student visits in Frontline and NCH documentation systems.
  • Maintains clinic cleanliness and ensures equipment and supplies are functional and organized.
  • Picks up and delivers supplies to school health clinics.
  • Performs first aid within scope of practice for students seeking care in the health clinic.
  • Participates in educational sessions with the nursing team.
  • Identifies students with chronic conditions and initiates contact with parents.
  • Affords assistance with clerical duties as needed.
  • Attends open house and school meet and greet events in conjunction with the team.
  • Assists with connecting students with NCH telehealth appointments and providers.

Requirements

  • Minimum Job Requirements: Certified nursing assistant or EMT license within the state of Florida; American Heart Association BLS; Level II Background Check.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 2 years of school health experience, 2 years of pediatric experience, effective English and Spanish communication skills, basic computer knowledge, proficiency in medication calculations, knowledge of CDC and MDCPS Vaccine Schedule/Mandatory Vaccine Requirements, ability to work collaboratively with school staff and School health team, ability to provide direction, guidance, supervision, and mentoring to a multidisciplinary team, ability to uphold the standards established by the Department of Health, Miami Dade County Public Schools, and NCHS, ability to provide direction, guidance, supervision, and mentoring to a multidisciplinary team consistent with the objectives of the Mission and Vision of the Hospital.
