Responsibilities
- Independently performs cardiac and vascular ultrasound procedures according to set protocols.
- Ensures procedures are completed within designated time frames and with appropriate orders.
- Safely and proficiently operates ultrasound and associated equipment.
- Recognizes significant and life-threatening abnormalities, acquires appropriate diagnostic information, and documents results in preliminary reports.
- Performs job duties in various settings including hospital, clinic, and mobile sites.
- Organizes and assists with daily operations of the echo/vascular laboratory.
- Completes paperwork including patient scheduling, communication, documentation, report distribution, and charges.
- Maintains supplies, reports equipment failures, and assists with quality assessment (QA), protocol development, IAC accreditation, and PACs implementation.
Requirements
- Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program accredited by CAAHEP.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or health-related field preferred.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in adult cardiac sonography (RDCS-AE or RCS) and vascular technology (RVT or RVS).
- Experience performing pediatric echo studies within one year of hire, if applicable.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) with AED certification within 30 days of start date.
- Valid driver’s license required.
