The Cardiovascular (CV) Clinical Systems Analyst is responsible for assisting the CV staff in the optimal use of the computer system applications, under the direction of the Cardiology Manager and Cardiovascular services director. This includes coordinating integration of CV systems with internal and external systems, including NCDR registries, as well as a liaison to other hospital departments including, but not limited to Finance, Supply Chain, Admitting, Infection Control, Risk Management, IT&S, and HIMS. Responsible for education of system applications, upgrades and updates. Responsible for ensuring data integrity through periodic audits and reviewing/revising policies/procedures in the use of supplied system software. The CV analyst is responsible for the maintenance of Cath/IR/EP databases related to coding and inventory for all procedures performed in the invasive suites. Performs any other job-related duties as requested by the Supervisor or Department Director (ie patient care and on-call duties) as needed. Practices in accordance with organizational medical staff directives, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Cardiology Department and St. David's North Austin Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain all Meditech/MERGE dictionaries, forms, queries and responses related to CV services documentation, billing, and inventory.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the MERGE module in both test and live for surgical or procedural documentation/scheduling.
  • Responsible for the cardiovascular revenue cycle, completes billing/charging daily, creates supply Item Add requests, and reconciling ancillary charge reports.
  • Responsible for NCDR registry (ICD/Cath-PCI) and works with quality to ensure data accuracy and registry compliance.
  • Create and maintain all teaching materials for cardiovascular and/or procedural employees and physicians (e.g. Cath, EP, echo, EKG, cardiac rehab, Interventional Radiology, etc.).
  • Creates and/or maintains CV menus for all cardiovascular staff and sets up PIN numbers.
  • Creates and/or maintains standard HCA Meditech, MERGE, and ORM CDS screens.
  • Trains new employees on the use of the CV module.
  • Informs all involved staff and management of changes to the system and teach as needed.
  • Supports hospital staff as requested and coordinates with other departments' needs as they interface to CV nursing/scheduling documentation (i.e. Admitting, Revenue Integrity, Supply Chain etc.).
  • Responsible for implementation/training of new CV programs (i.e. structured reporting) with physicians.
  • Assists Information Services in the coordination of hardware issues and troubleshooting for CV Services.
  • Creates NPR and department report to provide statistics/data for Administration, QI/QM, Finance, and Special Projects.
  • In conjunction with the appropriate CV Director/Manager and Management engineer, participates in the PI/QI program for the cardiac cath lab and interventional radiology.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in health science (includes nursing, cardiovascular technology or radiologic technology) yielding RN, RCIS, RCES, RT(R), or equivalent credential.
  • RN (Registered Nurse), or ARRT-R (Radiography), or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist), or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) - required.
  • At least one year of Acute Care Hospital experience - required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, Radiology or Informatics or holds RCIS credential with a minimum 2 years' experience in implementing or managing Cath Lab or O.R. scheduling/documentation systems - preferred.

Certifications

  • RCIS, RCES or RT(R) OR Licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
  • BLS certification as per SDH policy.
  • ACLS certification as per SDH policy.
