Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist - Lead

Under the supervision of a physician, the Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist Lead performs diagnostic and interventional procedures, assists in cardiac invasive and non-invasive testing, and supports laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Consistently and accurately perform prescribed procedures and assist physicians following established policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of cardiac invasive and non-invasive testing.
• Maintain quality assurance programs and documentation as required by equipment regulations and guidelines.
• Establish and update Cath lab policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Safely operate and maintain all equipment, with emphasis on physiologic monitoring for diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures.
• Oversee the charge reconciliation process, including obtaining pertinent charge and billing information.
• Manage supply inventory, monitor usage and waste, and coordinate with the data coordinator.
• Coordinate training, in-services, and preventative maintenance with vendors; act as the point of contact for troubleshooting.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing ongoing education as needed.
• Ensure radiation safety by adhering to guidelines and enforcing proper techniques to reduce exposure.
• Maintain integrity of lead aprons through routine assessments.
• Operate imaging equipment for processing, transmission, archiving, and computerized information systems.
• Serve as a technical and functional resource, assisting physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology procedures (scrub, circulate, monitor).
• Act as a preceptor for new students and staff.
• Assist with patient care, setup, positioning, transport, and room turnaround.
• Attend required education opportunities and participate in organizational and departmental goals.
• Maintain professional growth through continuing education.
• Oversee staff certification and training renewals.
• Lead and coordinate shift operations, including coverage, activities, and resource allocation.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies for the catheterization/electrophysiology lab.
• Participate in quality improvement and program development initiatives.
• Assist in preparing annual performance evaluations of staff.
• Participate in the recruitment of new staff.
• Oversee quarterly medical record audits for completed cases.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist (RCIS).
• CPR certification required (or must be obtained within 45 days of hire).
• PALS and ACLS certification required (or must be obtained and maintained within 12 months of hire).
• Completion of an accredited Cardiac Technology program, Associate, or Baccalaureate program in health science.
• Minimum of 5 years of pediatric experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge and skill in invasive procedures, protocols, and equipment specific to cardiac invasive procedures.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with physicians, staff, patients, and families.
• Ability to work independently and accommodate after-hours call coverage.
• Must provide a record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for areas performing complexity testing.
