Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist V Electrophysiology

About the role

Must be able to perform three of the following procedures: diagnostic and interventional coronary procedures, electrophysiology procedures, peripheral diagnostic and interventional procedures, neuro radiologic procedures, structural heart procedures, and pediatric procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies orders, facilitates implementation, and communicates with physicians as needed
  • Administers medications and performs treatments according to policy and training
  • Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and medications
  • Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies
  • Produces accurately written and promptly completed medical records for each patient
  • Maintains authenticity and security of medical records, following prescribed processes for amending documents
  • Performs procedural roles (circulate, monitor, scrub) required in therapeutic cardiac and electrophysiology laboratories
  • Takes call as rotated/assigned and responds in hospital per policy
  • Provides training for procedures within their competency and assists with orientation, training, and education of new personnel
  • Participates in quality and performance improvement activities to improve patient outcomes and documents activities as needed
  • Participates in unit/service line budgeting processes to ensure a cost-effective, quality-focused environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in healthcare related field required; Bachelor's preferred
  • 1+ years relevant healthcare experience required; 2+ years in cardiac cath/EP/neurosciences/critical care, or interventional radiology preferred

Required skills and knowledge

  • ECG training and arrhythmia interpretation
  • Cardiovascular anatomy
  • Vascular anatomy
  • Hemodynamic Monitoring
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals
  • Commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry
  • Ability to monitor patient blood pressure, ECG, and Pulse Oximetry using sophisticated clinical equipment
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English

Preferred skills

  • Knowledge of complex peripheral intervention procedures, peripheral diagnostic procedures and peripheral intervention procedures

Licenses and certifications

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) preferred
  • One of the following required: Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Technologist - Radiography (R.T.(R)(ARRT)), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), Registered Technologist - Cardiovascular Interventional (R.T.(CV)(ARRT)), Licensed Paramedic (PARA), or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Schedule

Full time, 3X12 hour shifts (36 hours/week), 0900-2130
