Cardiovascular Exercise Specialist | Avera Heart Hospital

Position Summary

An Exercise Specialist performs electrocardiogram (ECG) tests on patients while they exercise. The technician monitors the patient's heart rate, blood pressure, and pain levels to accumulate data about their heart function.

Responsibilities

• Explains procedure to the patient and complete consent form.
• Prep skin to obtain good EKG tracing.
• Use proper electrode placement and equipment set up.
• Obtain manual BP’s and follow the correct stress protocol.
• Maintain ECG equipment and lab.
• Work Schedule Monday through Friday.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor in Exercise Science preferred.
• Completion of CAN program, Medical Assistant Program or like program required.
• 2-3 years of cardiac patient care experience with strong knowledge of cardiac rhythms preferred.
