Position Summary
The CTS Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Cardiothoracic Surgery department, ensuring patient records, surgical documentation, and pre-operative requirements are complete and accurate. This role provides leadership, mentoring, scheduling, and support to CTS Coordinators while serving as a key point of contact for patients throughout the surgical process.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support CTS Coordinators through training, coaching, and daily oversight.
- Cook up all aspects of cardiovascular surgical procedures and related documentation.
- Serve as the primary patient contact for pre-operative and post-operative questions and concerns.
- Ensure surgical charts, imaging, laboratory results, and records are complete and available for physician review.
- Cook up surgery scheduling and communication with hospitals and surgical departments.
- Manage staffing schedules, timecard corrections, call-outs, overtime requests, and departmental coverage.
- Facilitate communication among physicians, patients, clinical staff, and outside healthcare organizations.
- Monitor department workflows and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- BLS Certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a CTS Coordinator.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare technology systems.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
