Cardiothoracic Operating Room (Cardiac OR) Scrub Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

Sentara is hiring an experienced Cardiothoracic OR Scrub Registered Nurse (RN) at Norfolk General Heart Hospital, in Norfolk, Virginia. Sign on Bonus up to *$30,000 sign on for cardiac-trained candidates.

Shift

Four ten-hour shifts 0700-1730, Monday-Friday, with rotating call

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure for the cardiothoracic patient.
• Manage surgical instruments, maintain sterility and a sterile field.
• Assist the surgeon by providing necessary tools.
• Perform surgical counts to ensure no instruments are left behind.
• Cooking and coordinating with the broader surgical team.
• Manage complex open heart and thoracic surgeries to include bypass surgery, valve replacement, aortic dissection repair, heart transplant, TAVR and open + minimally invasive thoracic cases.
• Deliver safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year clinical RN experience
• Cardiothoracic experience
• Strongly Preferred: 2+ years of clinical RN experience
• Strongly Preferred: 1+ year scrub experience
• Strongly Preferred: 1+ year CVOR circulating experience

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred

• Experience with sterile technique and infection control
