Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary disorders, including heart failure, COPD, asthma, and post-procedural cardiac follow-up.
- Independently perform and monitor cardiac stress tests (exercise and pharmacologic) in coordination with supervising physicians and cardiology partners.
- Conduct patient histories, physical examinations, and develop treatment plans based on clinical findings and evidence-based guidelines.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies such as ECGs, echocardiograms, pulmonary function tests, chest imaging, and relevant laboratory tests.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding cardiopulmonary health, medication management, rehabilitation, and risk-factor reduction.
- Collaborate with hospitalists, cardiologists, and respiratory therapists to ensure seamless coordination of care across the continuum.
- Document patient encounters, procedures, and results in the electronic medical record in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
- Participate in quality improvement, performance monitoring, and data-driven initiatives to enhance service efficiency and clinical outcomes.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing and technical staff within the Cardiopulmonary Department.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Licensed by the NH State license as an NP or PANational Certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA).
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
